A Must Read Book

"After Only 26 Days Of Using Your Hand-Picked Recipes 'Tornado' Has a Shinier Coat, Clearer Eyes & Has Lost His 'Wet-Dog' Smell"

It's really common sense that your dog should be healthier if they stop eating processed food. If I ate nothing but tinned food for a month I'm certain I'd feel like crap and probably look it too.

...but the great thing I liked about your book Andrew, is you hand-picked the recipes after trying them on your own dog. Believe me, that saves me a lot of friggin' around trying to work out what my dog likes that is also healthy for him, that's kinda the reason I hadn't done it before seeing your book.

It's now day 26 since I started following your advice & using your recipes and I gotta say it's going much better than I expected. 'Tornado' has a much shinier coat (which I did expect to see) but I'm completely surprised to discover his eyes have much become clearer. I didn't realize but they were kind of yellowish before... now they are a very clear white.

Even more suprising is he has lost the 'wet-dog' smell my girlfriend always complained about. But I was thinking about it and it makes sense that if you're healthier, you should have less unpleasant body odor...

Anyway Andrew, your advice rocks. Now I can have my 2 loves, my girlfriend & my dog, in the same room at the same time!! Cheers Andrew,
Steven

Healthy Dog Food - Off The Shelf Or Make Your Own? by Pascal E Erdmann

Our Rating:
Dogs. They are our pets, our best friends, and the one set of ears that will never pretend to ignore us. Due to the fact that they are such great companions, it is clear why owners always want the best for their furry friends. After all, they do resemble a human being, thus it is reasonable to feed them the healthiest foods and purchase a plethora of unused toys. While top notch pet food is available in every store, it can be perplexing to try and find the healthiest product. With so many factors taken into consideration, the percentages and ingredients become mind boggling. So how does one pick dog food out of the thousands of brands?

The first thing a pet owner should know is that affordable brands don't always mean that it is better. As we all know, dogs are like humans and they need their nutrition. Most dog food brands make sure that ingredients include meats, proteins, and fibers. However, there are those that focus on affordability rather than nourishment, which is why many animals begin to face problems. In order for your pet to have a healthy diet, you must find a food brand that incorporates protein, such as steak, chicken, or another type of meat. Additionally, these types of food should also have vitamins and minerals in them. Though dogs are much different than human beings they still require nutrients that keep them healthy and feeling great. If you are hesitant on a certain brand, chances are there may be a problem. It is recommended that you either consult the company itself, or perhaps find a book on healthy dog food. These resources will easily help you eliminate the brands that are more concerned with money.

Are you still unsure of what you're feeding your dog? Many pet owners simply run to their veterinarians, hoping that they will have a speedy answer. Fortunately, they can recommend many different brands - one which will hopefully be affordable and still beneficial for your dog. Although some people feel that professionals will just try to steer them in the expensive direction - perhaps food that is sold in their office, this is not necessarily true. A vast majority of veterinarians are concerned and want to make sure your dog is in top shape.

Luckily, there are other alternatives to healthy dog food, if you are just not pleased with the products. Recently, pet owners are beginning to take matters into their own hands. Since resources are booming, people can now cook their own dog food. That's right - no more instantaneous trips to the pet store. Since dogs love meat and vegetables, it is easy to find them a balanced diet. Many people are actually adding chicken to their dog's kibble or attempting to make beef cookies and dog food stew. Astonishingly, there are many health food websites catered to dog food, which will tell you exactly what to add to your dog's meal and which recipes are popular. Given that we treat our animals as if they were our human companions, it is no surprise that we are now feeding them the same way.

Good Nutrition with All Natural Dog Food

Dog Have Itchy Skin? Improper Nutrition Could Be The Cause - By K.C. Jones

Does your dog scratch all the time? Does he go on and on scratching? If you're like most people, it probably drives you crazy - not to mention your poor dog. You look your dog over - no fleas to be found. So then why won't the scratching stop?

One common answer for your dog's itchy skin is food allergies -- your dog is reacting to a certain ingredient in his dog food. Another common answer is psychological -- your dog has issues (nervousness, hyperactivity, anxiety). However, one area that tends to get overlooked in the diagnosis of a dog's itchy skin is nutrition, or lack thereof.

When you deprive your dog of essential nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fats), their body may respond with inflammation of the skin and scratching - your dog's itchy skin!

Your dog is a beloved member of your family. You don't deprive him of nutrients! Do you? You might very well and not even know you are doing it. If you answer yes to the following question, there is a very good chance that you are.

Do you feed your dog commercial dog food? Most dog food companies provide very substandard dog foods without you even knowing it. Just because the label says "well balanced" and "complete nutrition" does not mean that it is. Most of the food that goes into dog food are by-products. A by-product is whatever is left over of a whole ingredient after the healthy, usable portion has been removed.

So even though the dog food says it has a certain ingredient, chances are the good part, the part with the nutrients, aren't in your dog's food. This lack of quality nutrients results in your dog's itchy skin.

Proper nutrition is every bit as important for your dog as it is for you. Your pet relies on you solely for his food. Feed him quality, nutritious food and watch a lot of his problems disappear.

There are several alternatives to feeding your dog inferior commercial dog food and most of these will alleviate your dog's itchy skin and other "allergies".

One alternative is to make your own dog food - homemade healthy dog food. In this way you have complete control of what your dog eats. This alternative is considered to be the best since you can provide more of a variety of foods, which is healthier for your dog. It's also great because you can benefit from buying what is on sale at your local grocery store.

Another alternative is to supplement a healthy, all-natural kibble with fresh meat. There are several organic and all-natural dog food companies that care about your pet and provide a quality kibble. Surprisingly, these kibbles are not that much more expensive than a premium commercial dog food.

The last alternative is to find out which dog food companies care about more than just their profits - there are a few out there. You'll just need to learn how to read the ingredient labels to figure it out. And the ingredient labels are tricky! Do you know the difference between chicken, chicken meal, chicken by-product meal, and poultry by-product meal? If you don't, you need to learn.
